M has left the building

1995-2007

Her Highness will no longer be holding court at CarbFest. No more Secret Sam Messages.

After eleven wonderful years as part of our family, she has moved on. She spent the day yesterday purring and napping on her perch in a sunny window. Early this morning it was clear that it was time. She told us so. After a six-month battle with what we think was a liver tumor, she died at home in A's lap at 5:00 this morning.

Thank you for gracing us with your presence. I hope we proved worthy.

  1. As I type this, Bono is singing, "I can't believe the news today..."

So sorry to hear of your loss. Sounds like her departure was as good as one could hope for.

  2. I am sorry for the loss, as is Samson.

It won't be the same going over to your house to deliver and receive the super secret messages.

  3. Thanks, Sam. I appreciate the thought.

As I think about it, she really has shown us how to die gracefully: no tubes or wires, at home, in the arms of loved ones.

  4. Swankette: What? Sam doesn't have any super-secret messages for us too? ;-)

  5. She was a nice kitty. Sorry to hear about your loss. And if she died in your lap, then yes, you were worthy--what more can a kitty ask for?

  6. I'm sorry to hear it. Even in death, our pets know more than we give them credit for.

  7. I suppose we will find out if Samson has any messages for you in due time. He did get a little bit of extra loving today. He also seemed to register when I told him the news, and he got extra cuddly for a bit.

  8. Sorry for your loss--such great photos. She seemed an elegant cat indeed.

In my experience, there is nothing like the unconditional love of a pet to great you everyday and remind you of the importance of laying in the sun, napping, and cuddling.

  9. That would be "greet" you every day...Fortunately, cats can't spell either.

  10. So sorry for the loss of your "fur" baby. If you need a "fur" baby fix, feel free to come on over, I'm sure one of our five will grace you with their presence.
